When the nation’s top medical researchers partner with creative minds across The MetroHealth System and they all have equity in mind—it means we can advance medicine to work for every person in our community.
Expanding Access
Through our partner, Lumina Imaging and Diagnostics, we are expanding access to hospital-grade MRIs and CT scans in areas that are a significant distance from our main campus hospital.
A Culture of Innovation
Our employees on the front line know how to improve healthcare for our community, so we’ve introduced an employee “hackathon” that elevates their ideas to be evaluated and implemented. Through rounds made by leadership teams, we continue to listen for innovative ideas from those on the front lines of care.
Keeping Cleveland Moving
Along with four other institutions, we formed the Cleveland Functional Electrical Stimulation Center. Together, we’re advancing research and treatment for people who have lost function as a result of neuromuscular impairments. Through electrical stimulator implants, our researchers are restoring movement in ways that were previously impossible.
Vector and Cellular Facility
MetroHealth is the first safety-net hospital in the United States to offer in-house viral vector and cellular production to fuel a wide spectrum of medical treatments. This lab means every MetroHealth patient has access to the most advanced treatment for cancer.
Innovations in Mental Healthcare
Nearly 70% of people in the Cuyahoga County Jail have some form of mental illness. MetroHealth is developing a program that provides behavioral and physical healthcare right in the jail, so people can get the care they need before reintegrating into the community.
