Connecting the Dots

Health Equity

Health equity means every person has access to the care they need to achieve the healthiest outcomes.

And ensuring access for everyone requires the individualized attention and care that MetroHealth is committed to providing every day.

Mammograms and Breast Health Education

For 18 years, our BREAST/Amigas program has provided breast health education and mammograms to women in our community through our Mobile Mammography Van and MetroHealth Medical Center.

Training More Healthcare Professionals

Providing exceptional care also requires improving educational access for those interested in pursuing a healthcare career. MetroHealth launched the Medical Assisting Training Program, and our new Dental Assistant Apprenticeship Program recently graduated six new dental assistants.

Black Infant-Maternal Mortality

Cuyahoga County has one of the highest rates of maternal and infant mortality in the country for Black women and babies. We’re partnering with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, the Cleveland Department of Public Health, and Mount Sinai Foundation to develop strategies to address this crisis.

Health Equity Centers of Excellence

Health Equity Centers of Excellence are clinical practices within The MetroHealth System dedicated to making sure each person has the resources they need to live a healthier life. Through these centers, MetroHealth–under the leadership of Charles Modlin, MD, MBA and Michele Davis-Ishmael, MBA, BSN, RN–is developing new strategies to provide culturally responsive clinical care and develop expertise across the system to deliver care that’s personalized to meet each patient’s unique needs.

Leading the Nation in Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity

Equity, inclusion, and diversity are core cultural values at MetroHealth. Through a partnership with Rali, MetroHealth’s award-winning equity, inclusion, and diversity content will guide healthcare organizations nationwide as they seek to deliver compassionate and culturally competent care, build trust, and provide equitable service and support.

Access to Care

MetroHealth’s Men’s Health Fair provides over 30 screenings to thousands of men each spring. MetroHealth will host a Multicultural Women’s Health Fair & Expo on Sept. 30 at the Huntington Convention Center, and we’re planning a Multicultural Children’s Health Expo at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo this summer.
